The power of co-creation

The power of Co-creation? That is combining different perspectives and expertise to come up with a solution that better meets the needs and expectations of the target group.  

In the Industrial Design Engineering Technology (IO) program at the UGent campus Kortrijk, students are supported for a year by Prof. Jan Detand and Dr. Lore Brosens of the Design.Nexus research group in the skills needed to co-create.  

In each case, the IO students start from a context and its associated stakeholders. For example, the students learned about patients with dystonia, wheelchair users, breast cancer survivors, ... to formulate from there the challenge the stakeholders are really facing. A year long they worked for and with them to develop new products.
