Emma Cogné presents Spell Blanket, a series of textile works that explore the blanket as both a nomadic and narrative object; an intimate shelter that protects, warms, and accompanies. Drawing on a personal collection of objects, domestic devices, and discreet tools from the textile industry, she composes images in which the ordinary becomes charged with strangeness and illusion. These fragments unfold into all-over patterns whose repetition tells everyday situations scattered with clues. Created in collaboration with Belgian textile companies
Tessutica,
Deltracon,
Louis de Poortere, B&T Textilia and
Van Neder, organized by
Fedustria and
Designregio Kortrijk and supported by
Aarova and
POM West-Vlaanderen. The pieces combine textures, reliefs, and colours that recall the layered histories of velvet and brocade found in Early Netherlandish painting.
